Miami Beach Declares State of Emergency During Music Week

This week, Miami Beach will declare a state of emergency after a dangerous Spring Break weekend left five people shot. The midnight curfew begins Thursday, March 24, 2022.

City Manager Alina Hudak announced the news in a press conference following two separate incidents on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach.

The curfew will cover all of South Beach, starting on 23rd Street. It begins Thursday and will end Monday, March 28 at 6 am. City policy only allows for an emergency order to extend for 72 hours, so Hudak will push to have the order extend to the following weekend as well.

What this means for events after dark during Miami Music Week is still unclear. Stay tuned to Gray Area for updates.
