A Guide to Sober Raving in Ibiza
The rise of the sober rave is apparent all around the world and Ibiza is no exception. Many people are starting to realize that partying sober can be just as fun as partying with alcohol, and we wanted to put together a guide for the non-drinkers visiting the island that still love to hit up the dancefloor.
In recent years, more and more people are saying no to overpriced alcohol, dodgy 6AM taxi rides, and post-party hangovers. Instead, they’ve decided they don’t need substances to come together to dance, socialize, and have fun. It's a way to enjoy the music and the atmosphere without the negative side effects that inevitably follow.
Above all else music is the reason we do this. Strangely, however, when you tell someone that you don’t drink, they suddenly assume that you don’t enjoy partying anymore. Yet often, this most definitely isn’t the case.
There are plenty of articles out there about how to have a ‘chilled holiday in Ibiza’ or ‘the other side of Ibiza’ (do they mean the North?!). We’ve even got a guide for “All Things Hippy in Ibiza” if you fancy a read. But, they don’t cater to those that still want to party on the White Isle and value their livers.
You can technically go to any event and remain sober, as there are many more non-alcoholic options available at bars and clubs in Ibiza than in previous years, but there are a few events that are specifically aimed and those who choose not to drink.
Mindful and sober events and parties in Ibiza
In 2022, a health-conscious event called Closer came onto the scene, offering a “No booze, no shoes” party in the town of San Lorenzo. Whereas with most conscious-style events, you’d expect chilled music and a laid-back vibe, Closer offered a night of melodic house and techno, giving the non-drinking ravers a night to enjoy without temptation and inebriation surrounding them.
Mindset Music run events periodically throughout the year which include live music, DJ sets and mindful discussions for those who have a hunger for more accessible, diverse, and balanced clubbing events.
Events at Las Dalias such as Namaste and Nido appeal to non-drinkers as there is plenty of outdoor space to dance and party before heading into the intimate Akasha club until the early hours (if that’s what you want to do).

And it’s not only the party-goers that have jumped on the sober train. According to legendary DJ and producer Carl Cox, it's about experiencing the music in a different way.
“I’ve always said music is my drug. I’ve always been clean living. If I had been taking drugs, I wouldn’t be here today. I’ve got a zest for life and that’s what makes me who I am.” he told Mixmag in an interview.
Even legendary DJ Harvey talked about being sober in his 6 Life Lessons interview with Esquire.
“I don’t think there are many people who attend social gatherings sober. But I’m one of them!”
