Since his first release at the young age of 23, Australia born, London-based Sonny Fodera has steadily flown to the top of house music ranks. Inspired by Chicago legends like Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Gene Farris, and Frankie Knuckles, Fodera has followed closely in their footsteps to become a house maven himself. Specifically, it’s his knack for creating jacking house tracks that gets everyone in the crowd moving.
Fodera has come to be known for his chunky basslines and chopped up samples that leave listeners on the hook as they wait for what’s coming next. It was this style that landed his releases on imprints such as Defected, Cajual, Visionquest, and Dirtybird. In 2016, Fodera released his first and only album under the Defected label, and in it he incorporated more lead vocals and pop elements that set it apart from his other works.
After gaining momentum Sonny took the natural next step, creating his own label Solotoko. Since then more of his releases have featured sing-a-long vocals with energetic, progressive synths. Some of these tracks include his latest single “Better”, a massive collaboration with Diplo, “Turn Back Time”, and “Wired” with Ella Eyre. Although he’s leaned into pop a little more over the years, his core of deep house rhythm remains the same. No matter what formula he uses to produce, the end result is always a serious heater.
In addition to his superior production abilities, Fodera has master mixing skills in the booth. His quality DJ sets have been heard around the world at festivals such as Tomorrowland, Coachella, EDC Las Vegas, and WMC Miami to name a few. This master selector has played sold out tours in the United Kingdom and North America. Apart from flying all over the world to put on these one-night sets, Fodera also has a residency at Ibiza Rocks that keeps him extremely busy over the summer.
