Overview
Otto Yliperttula, known to many by his stage name Yotto, is a Finnish DJ and record producer. Though he currently resides in Helsinki, his hard-hitting style of deep house has spread to rapt listeners all over the world.
Otto grew up in a musical family. His brother was a vocalist, and both of his parents were musically inclined. He took classical piano as a child and kept a super wide taste in music for most of his life. At the beginning of his musical career, Otto was a member of the Helsinki-based melodic house duo Something Good.
In 2015, before he turned 30, Otto joined the legendary label Anjunadeep’s roster as Yotto. That same year, already on his third Anjunadeep release, his track “Personal Space” was the first of his records to be named the “Essential New Tune” on BBC Radio 1 by Pete Tong.
He would eventually rack up four more “Essential New Tune” nods, and three “Hottest Record In The World” selections, also from the BBC Radio 1 show. Many of these accolades would come within the span of one year. 2016’s “Firewalk”, perhaps his most successful track, climbed the Beatport charts to No. 1 and was supported by Paul Oakenfold, Cosmic Gate, Steve Angello, and Markus Schulz.
In 2018, Yotto’s debut full-length album Hyperfall was released through Anjunadeep. To date, the album has accumulated over 20 million streams on Spotify alone. The next year saw the launch of his own record label, Odd One Out. He debuted on the label with his single “Shifter”, but would still continue to release on Anjunadeep through 2021. He celebrated the new label with his biggest world tour to date, headlining shows across Australia, North America, and Europe. The tour also stopped at some of the world’s biggest festivals, Coachella, Tomorrowland, Lightning in a Bottle, Electric Zoo, and many more.
