Overview
International Music Summit (IMS) is a three-day electronic dance music conference held in the clubbing capital of the world, Ibiza, each year at the beginning of the summer season.
Founder of the flagship, annual event is long-reigning Radio 1 host, DJ and advocate Pete Tong, who characterizes the summit as a ‘dynamic networking environment, blending the glamor of Ibiza with a back to business ethos, leading into the official Ibiza opening party weekend’.
Comparable to that of Miami's Winter Music Conference and Amsterdam Dance Event, IMS focuses on raising awareness and appreciation for electronic music through connecting key innovators, leaders, creators, visionaries, and future disruptors of the sphere, to promote ethical and sustainable growth from the boardroom to the dance floor.
Over the three day conference, presentations, interviews and panels take place, as well as a grand finale celebration located at the top of the island’s famous UNESCO World Heritage Site in the old town of Ibiza, otherwise known as Dalt Vila. This one of a kind event is truly a magical experience, as the site only allows for IMS to use it once a year, in order to maintain its breathtaking heritage and stature.
UNESCO World Heritage Site - Ibiza
Since the first ever IMS edition in 2008 which took place at Hard Rock Hotel in Playa d'en Bossa, the event has experienced significant growth in attendee numbers, exhibition space and repute.
In 2022, the event relocated to the stunning sister resort of Pacha, Destino Ibiza Resort Hotel. Just last year in February 2023, it was announced that Beatport, now known as AlphaTheta, had acquired a majority stake in IMS.
Now with backing from one of the largest brands within the electronic music realm, the 2024 IMS summit promises its biggest and best edition yet at a new venue, Hyde and Mondrian Hotel in the stunning Cala Llonga bay.
The list of highlights from previous years is too extensive to enumerate, but keynote speakers since its inception have included the likes of Skrillex, Jeff Mills, CamelPhat, Nile Rogers, Sven Väth, and more.
Not only are the panels and interviews a key part of the full IMS experience, but there are plenty more aspects to get involved with. The IMS College which serves as an educational space with DJ/production workshops and music business masterclasses, is presented by Point Blank is available free of charge to all IMS delegates.
Art of Areté
The Art of Areté provides a platform for well-being and self-realization within the arts and entertainment industry, offering all-day programming including breath-work, meditation, yoga, sound healing, nature walks, and more - all complimentary for IMS delegates.
To cap off the summit, IMS concludes with a seven-hour open-air celebration featuring established and emerging DJs at the pinnacle of the renowned Dalt Vila UNESCO World Heritage Site. While this signifies the end of the annual summit, the Ibiza season also kicks off this weekend, ushering in a plethora of opening parties with the biggest names in electronic music.
