Day Zero Masada is an annual electronic music festival founded by British electronic music legend Damian Lazarus. The one-day event takes place in the Dead Sea region of Israel on the mountain of Masada. Day Zero is known for its stunning views of the Dead Sea, always stellar lineup, and industry-leading production, making it one of the finest young festivals in the Middle East.
Whatever the lineup may be each year, the venue is what truly makes this event special. The festival is situated at the base of an isolated rock plateau overlooking the Dead Sea on the edge of the Judean desert. The grounds offer breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery as well as plenty of room to dance. Taking place from 4 pm to 8 am, ravers get to experience the clear desert skies as the sun is setting and rising, and the vibrant starry skies throughout the night. Being held on ancient land, Day Zero is committed to leaving the venue cleaner than they found it, ensuring their ability to return year after year for the remarkable event.
The Day Zero party first started in Tulum, Mexico in 2012 and expanded to Masada in 2019. The next two years were canceled due to the pandemic, but lineups were released, showing that whenever the festival returned that it would undoubtedly be huge. And this year’s edition, taking place on September 16th, is meant to be exactly that.
The inaugural event hosted performances from artists like Jamie Jones, Gorgon City, and Monolink. The sunset-to-sunrise party hosted 15,000 people in its first year. More legendary names were booked for the canceled events the next two years, including Charlotte De Witte, DJ Tennis, and Diplo. Now, the 2022 edition hosts more exciting names, such as Be Svendsen, DJ Tennis, and Sasha, with special guests to soon be announced. Of course, Day Zero’s founder Damian Lazarus, house and techno artist and tastemaker, performs at every event.
With past events selling out, this year’s festival is expected to follow suit. Head to Day Zero’s website for more information and to purchase tickets.
