Dekmantel
Amstelveen, Netherlands
Overview
Dekmantel Festival is a cutting-edge electronic music affair that takes place in Amsterdam annually. It is known for curating a lineup of some of the most influential acts in house, techno, and beyond, encouraging them to experiment and stray away from the mainstream. The innovative sounds and consistently brilliant lineup make Dekmantel one of the most respected festivals in the country.
The Dutch festival takes place at Amsterdamse Bos, a massive park nearly three times the size of New York’s Central Park, and along the Het Ij river. It is thrown by the Amsterdam-based event company and record label Dekmantel, an imprint at the forefront of underground dance music.
Taking place every year in the summer since 2013 (except 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic), this year’s edition is on August 3-7, 2022. Hundreds of electronic artists and live acts will perform across eight stages— Main Stage, Green House, Selectors, Connects, The Nest, Boiler Room, UFO I, and UFO II— as well as across the banks of the Amsterdam river Het Ij. Combined with top-notch acts, Dekmantel boasts industry-leading production and sound systems, providing a better-than-the-average festival experience.
The five-day festival is split between two locations: Amsterdamse Bos on Friday through Sunday and along the Het Ij river on Wednesday and Thursday. The Wednesday and Thursday programming requires separate tickets and is a way to kick off the weekend ahead. This year’s acts performing along the river include Portuguese-born Danish singer Erika de Casier, multi-genre multi-instrumentalist Squarepusher, London-based cellist and composer Oliver Coates, and over a dozen more artists.
Some of the greatest DJs of all time perform at Dekmantel Festival, with this year’s edition hosting DJ EZ, Job Jobse, Jayda G, and more legendary acts. Other exciting names this year include DJ Haram, Palms Trax (with a four-hour opening set), Animistic Beliefs, and Mama Snake. Dekmantel is loaded with takeovers, including Echo Box Radio, Herrensauna XXL with SPFDJ, Cem, Héctor Oaks, and MCMLXXXV, as well as Hessle Audio’s 15-year celebration with Ben UFO, Pearson Sound, and Pangaea.
In addition to the music programming, Dekmantel will host a range of interviews, workshops, and performances, as well as art installations and vendors.
Weekend tickets for this year’s Dekmantel are sold out, however, Wednesday and Thursday tickets are still available.
