Overview

Born in and named after Morocco, MOGA is a boutique electronic music festival that sprouted onto the Moroccan music scene in 2016. The coastal-inspired festival that takes place annually in Morocco expanded its imprint to Portugal in October 2021, taking place in multiple locations across the shorelines of Costa da Caparica, right outside of Lisbon. MOGA Caparica makes its return to Portugal for the 2nd edition on June 1-5, 2022, featuring beach and boat parties, surfing, yoga, brunches, food, and more.

MOGA aims to connect people from all around the globe through music, dance, art, community, and wellness at a glorious beachfront site. The five-day festival is an intimate gathering powered by electronic music, community, and nature.

This year’s Caparica edition features nearly 40 artists from around the world performing across three beachfront stages. Lineup standouts include Polo and Pan member Polocorp, French-born Lisbon-based globe trotter YokoO, underground Israeli techno legend Guy Gerber, Zurich tastemaker Kalabrese, and folkloric producer Lola Villa.

MOGA Caparica also lends its platform to many local artists. Portuguese creatives on the lineup include Lisbon-based Chima Hiro, alternative DJ TROL2000, Lisbon-born London-based Mafalda, Porto-based Klin Klop, and multi-genre trailblazer Mike Stellar. And for the only b2b of the event, Portuguese artists Madd Ros and Magupi take the stage together.

MOGA Caparica made sure to pay homage to their roots as well, with Moroccan artists like Amine K, Nathabes, and Daox on the lineup.

And though it’s across the Atlantic, MOGA doesn’t hesitate to book American electronic talent. Chicago-grown Chez Damier and hip-hop DJ veteran Maurice Fulton are making their way to Portugal’s capital city for this year’s MOGA Caparica.

The nearly week-long festival is spread across five different locations throughout Costa da Caparica. The main performances can be found at three locations on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: Reîa Beach Club, Praia Irmao, and Palms Dr Bernard.

Art, talks, food, and more can be found at Dr Bernard Caparica, a beach restaurant, surf center, and wellness platform. This is also where the festival information center is located. Lastly, the MOGA sunset cruise will take place on the Evora Barco, which can be found at Gare Marítima da Rocha do Conde de Óbidos in Lisboa.

For the full rundown on who’s performing when and where, head to the practical info section of the festival’s website.

Tickets are on sale now and can be found on the MOGA Caparica website. Full festival and single-day passes are available, and boat party passes must be purchased separately.

Furthermore, the dates for this year’s MOGA Essaouira are out. The Morrocan festival will take place September 30th through October 2nd at Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa. The lineup has not yet been released.
