Broken Hill

Broken Hill is a Southern California-based DJ, producer, and audio engineer known for blending intricate percussion, melodic textures, and deep, rolling basslines. The man behind the project, Kurtis McNevin, draws from his Australian roots and years of technical experience to shape a sound that feels fresh, thoughtful, and rooted in the dance floor.

Introduced to electronic music at a young age by his father—a lifelong dance music lover—Broken Hill’s interest in production began early. That influence pushed him into both music-making and audio engineering, eventually leading to his current role as lead engineer at The Music Company in Pacific Beach, CA. There, he works with a wide range of artists, constantly sharpening his skill set and fine-tuning his own tracks with a balance of analog and digital tools.

Broken Hill’s releases have been supported by respected names across the scene, including Solomun, Adam Ten, Max Styler, Super Flu, and Four Tet. His Change Your Mind EP on Disco Halal climbed into the Top 20 of Beatport’s Indie Dance charts in 2024 and saw widespread DJ support.

Known for building immersive, emotionally rich tracks, Broken Hill is steadily earning recognition for his detailed production style and versatile sound. With his catalog growing and a growing list of supporters behind him, he’s continuing to expand his reach across clubs and sound systems worldwide.
