Sheldon Young, a.k.a Channel Tres, is a Compton-bred talent that is building his own legacy in the music industry by fusing house music, disco, techno, funk, rap, and hip-hop. Drawing inspiration from many different styles of music, Channel Tres has advocated that he is a “genreless artist” who makes “gumbo” - a mixture of a bunch of things that you typically wouldn’t put together. At one point he might have been a well-kept musical secret, but releases such as “Controller”, “Topdown”, and “Weedman” have pushed him into the public’s eye.
At the early age of nine, Channel came across a CD entitled “The Love Below” and felt inspired to create music and art for himself and his community. He used these mediums to create a special world from himself - one where he can escape reality and immerse himself in music that makes him feel alive and free. Over the years he has developed that skill and turned it into original productions that his fans have come to know and love him for. Whether he is putting on a live performance, or DJing, this artist captivates his audience with story-telling musical abilities.
Since 2018, this genre-blending artist has experienced rapid-growth in his career, touring the world, and selling out massive arenas. In the past, collaborations have come easily to Channel because he has hundreds of unheard beats on hand and always gives 100 percent of his energy in the studio, no matter what the outcome may be. He has collaborated with the likes of Tyler, The Creator, JPEGMAFIA, SG Lewis, TOKiMONTSA, Duke Dumont, Mura Masa, Disclosure, and many more.
Channel is classically trained with a soothing baritone voice to boot. This combination, along with his love for electronic music, sets the perfect backdrop for not only club favorites, but also tracks that dig a little deeper into the artists’ personal life and the Black experience.
