Overview
UK club music pioneer and scene stalwart James Connolly, or Dance System, has been creating club music free of rules and genres since 2008. James grew up in Brighton, UK, where during his teenage years he began to DJ, produce, and promote nightclubs. After booking the NYC heavyweight Drop The Lime, James reconnected with his love for bass music, inspiring him to write his first standout release under his original moniker L-Vis 1990.
Before making the creative decision to concentrate on his Dance System project full time, James cleared the vault by dropping a 16-track album full of unreleased material titled “Decade of Dubz”. This final project featured collaborations with the NAAFI Allstars Dinamarca, DJ Taye, and Jimmy Edgar. This final project helped Dance System start off on the right foot, with a clear path ahead of him.
Making the change to Dance System reinvigorated James’ production style and transformed his sound to “tough, fun, and funky”. His new moniker was born from a love of club culture, the history of house music, and desire to release modern house music without the ego. Listeners can without-a-doubt hear this in his most successful album, “Where’s the Party At?”. Released during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, this 18-track project follows the narrative of a house party as it unfolds and includes collaborations with some of your favorite DJ’s including India Jordan, HudsonMohawke, A-Trak, Herbert, Shadow Child, Sally C, Cromby, Big Miz, Lauren Flax, DJ Deeon, Absolute, Alex Virgo, Hugo Paris and more.
Constantly trusting his gut and intuition, James continues to shape the music scene with infectious dance floor house hits. He has let the energy of the universe direct his path and the result has been raw club energy, a pumpin’ bassline, and hands-in-the-air magic that the world needs now more than ever.
