Overview
Ferro, real name Jasper Ferro, is a producer and DJ from Amsterdam, Netherlands who crafts his music using genuine hardware and fully analogue tools. This organic style creates a warm and inviting sound with unsparing percussive elements. Though he can be defined to the house genre, Ferro draws elements from disco, funk, jazz, techno, acid, and breakbeat, creating a heavy-hitting fusion of groovy, vintage-sounding electronic music.
Starting his musical journey as a teenager, the early stages of Ferro’s career were defined by the way jazz is played, classical music, and his love for science fiction. As his sound evolved over the years, the Dutch artist pulls influences from many different places, keeping his sound fresh and constantly evolving. He’s inspired by the balance of good and evil forces in the world, translating to his sound that holds both a light and dark side— “one cannot do without the other,” he states.
Ferro has released music with imprints such as Lazare Hoche Records sub-label Oscillat, Belgium-based Lessizmore, and Fuse London sub-label Infuse. His debut release is the 2012 EP Lucid Dream via Dutch label Moral Fiber. He has released a new EP almost every year since then, with his latest release being 2021’s The Unforced EP via the Amphia imprint. Ferro is also a part of a collaborative duo with Reiss, called Spokenn.
Much of his original music has been released with the Dutch imprint VBX, where he is the frontman and A&R. Around for about a decade, Ferro has been releasing his own music and putting on the sounds of other exciting emerging names with the label. VBX also throws events across the Netherlands, from club nights to festivals, such as Planet Paradigm and ION Festival.
Aside from these events, Ferro performs across the globe, hitting countries like Spain, Germany, the UK, Costa Rica, Portugal, and much more. He’s performed at events like Boiler Room Bahrain, Half Baked Halloween, FUSE: Open Air (After Dark), Awakenings Festival, and Unusual Suspects. Keeping a busy performance schedule, Ferro is set to hit PHAEX Festival in Greece, Loveland Festival in Amsterdam, ION Festival in Albania, and much more this year.
