Desert Festivals to Visit Around The World

Bruno Boumendil, better known by his stage name

, is a French DJ, producer, and multi-instrumentalist who has become a defining voice in the global house and disco music scene. Hailing from Lyon, France, Folamour’s musical foundation was shaped by the city’s rich cultural history and his own early immersion in diverse genres like pop, jazz, and funk.

Classically trained in guitar, drums, bass, and percussion, his approach to production is grounded in a musician’s understanding of melody, rhythm, and structure. These elements would later define his style, setting him apart in a crowded field of electronic artists.

Folamour’s breakthrough came with his debut album,

, which introduced listeners to his fusion of house, disco, and future jazz influences. Tracks like

reflected his knack for creating danceable yet emotionally resonant music.

Umami

, expanded on this foundation, exploring deeper themes through a more intricate production style. Both albums earned critical acclaim and cemented his position as a respected figure in the French electronic music community.

Ordinary Drugs

Beyond his studio work, Folamour has established himself as a sought-after live performer, delivering standout sets at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Tomorrowland, Coachella, and Sónar, as well as renowned venues like Olympia in Paris, Printworks in London, and Ancienne Belgique in Brussels.

His 2019 Boiler Room performance at Sugar Mountain in Australia, set against the industrial waterside backdrop of Williamstown, remains one of the most memorable moments of his career, with millions of views online.

A significant milestone in Folamour’s career came with the release of his album,

. This marked a shift in his artistic process, moving away from sample-based production toward fully live instrumentation and original vocal work. Collaborating with artists such as SG Lewis, Tertia May, and Zeke Manyika,

offered a personal exploration of themes like love and connection, resonating with both longtime fans and new listeners.

, showcased a further expansion of his sound, featuring collaborations with Amadou & Mariam and Jungle By Night. The album emphasized his ability to merge genres while remaining rooted in the grooves that define his music.

In addition to his own productions, Folamour is also a key figure in the French house scene through his work as a label head. He co-founded Moonrise Hill Material in 2017, nurturing emerging talent, and later launched his own imprint, House of Love, in 2022. Both labels serve as platforms for music that prioritizes emotional resonance and artistic expression over commercial trends.
