His sound, deeply influenced by the legendary works of artists such as Theo Parrish and Masters at Work, resonates in the soulful and infectious beats he skillfully curates, moving listeners with every rhythm.
Toribio has built a name for himself in all five boroughs of New York, gathering crowds at his popular BDA parties. The motto, "Bring Dat Ass, and your feet will follow," reflects his infectious spirit that ignites dancefloors at renowned events like the 718 Sessions, Summerstage, House of EFunk, La Luna Festival, and Soul in the Horn. His talent has led him to share the stage with industry greats such as Caribou, Danny Krivit, DJ Seinfeld, Francois K, and Osunlade, among others.
However, Toribio's versatility extends beyond the DJ booth. As the leader of Conclave, a rotating collective of musicians, he demonstrates his broad musical talent. Their self-titled LP, released on Love Injection Records, received recognition and was deemed one of the best albums of 2021 by Resident Advisor. The New Yorker described the album as “vast” and imbued with “mellow, late-summer-afternoon gauziness.”
Incorporating Afro and Latino sounds and instruments, Conclave presents an electrifying fusion of lively jazz, spirited house, and soulful music. This magnetic blend, coupled with Toribio's smooth tenor, provides a unique listening experience that concludes with an electrifying climax. Renowned producers like Louie Vega, Photay, and musclecars have remixed tracks from Conclave, a further testament to Toribio's influence in the industry.
As a resident DJ at Brooklyn's Black Flamingo, Toribio continues to hold successful BDA parties, regularly playing at leading New York clubs like Nowadays, Elsewhere, Good Room, Knockdown Center, Bossa Nova Civic Club, and Le Bain.
