Cécille
Overview
Nick Curly & Cécille Records are widely recognized names within underground house and tech house culture. Emerging from Mannheim, Germany during the late 2000s, Nick Curly helped shape what became known as the “Mannheim Sound,” a style centered around warmth, groove, melody, and fluid movement during a period when minimal techno dominated much of Europe’s club scene.
Founded in 2008 by Nick Curly and Marc Scholl, Cécille Records soon became one of the most respected labels in underground dance music. Alongside sister imprint 8Bit Records, the label introduced and supported artists including Butch, Robert Dietz, Markus Fix, Toman, Josh Butler, Harry Romero, SiS, and many others. Its releases became staples in clubs across the world and earned praise from Resident Advisor, Groove Magazine, and influential DJs throughout the scene.
Cécille gained international attention through releases such as SiS’ “Nesrib,” Butch’s “No Worries,” and Nick Curly’s own productions, helping launch a new generation of artists onto major club and festival stages. The label’s sound blended house, techno, funk, and deep musical elements into records designed for intimate clubs, terraces, and long dance floor sessions.
As both a producer and DJ, Nick Curly has maintained an international presence for more than a decade, performing at respected venues and festivals worldwide while continuing to refine his sound through carefully selected releases and label projects. His acclaimed album Between The Lines revealed a deeper and more musical side of his work, further establishing his place within modern underground electronic music.
