Overview
HiNDE is a Zimbabwean Afro House movement founded by Nitefreak in 2021, born out of a moment when the global shutdown left many artists without stages, visibility, or income. What started as a response to that gap quickly turned into something far more intentional. Built around community and access, HiNDE created space for local DJs and producers to be heard, while shaping a sound that reflects both Afro House and Afro Tech coming out of Southern Africa.

The movement first took hold in Bulawayo, where its early events became a meeting point for a growing scene that had limited exposure outside the region. These shows were rooted in discovery and connection, giving artists a platform while building a loyal audience that understood the direction behind the music. As momentum built, HiNDE expanded into Harare, marking a major step forward with its debut at Queen of Hearts in November 2024. That event brought together names like Nitefreak, Ryan Synth, Samuel Cosmic, Bam Bam Madame, and Jay, signaling that the brand had moved beyond a local series into something with wider reach and intent.
By 2025, HiNDE began stepping onto the international circuit. Its presence at Miami Music Week introduced the brand to a new audience and placed it alongside established global platforms, while still holding onto the core identity it developed in Zimbabwe. At the same time, it continued to invest in its regional roots, hosting artists such as Jazzworx and Thukuthela and strengthening its position within the Afro House and 3 Step space across Southern Africa. This balance between local foundation and international growth has become central to how HiNDE operates.

That same year also marked the start of its community initiative in Bulawayo, partnering with the Sandra Jones Children’s Centre. The project combined fundraising with direct donations, collecting essentials like clothing and toiletries while dedicating part of event proceeds to support the organization. It is a practical extension of what HiNDE represents, tying its growth back to the community it came from rather than separating the two.
In 2026, the brand continued to build on that trajectory with a sold out showcase at Mystik Mauritius and a return to the United States, reinforcing demand outside of Africa. Each new territory has expanded its reach without shifting its focus, keeping the sound and the purpose consistent across different audiences. From warehouse settings in Zimbabwe to international stages, HiNDE has developed into a platform that introduces artists, connects scenes, and carries a clear identity into every market it enters.
At the center of it all is Nitefreak, whose own career has grown alongside the brand. Since starting out in 2009, he has built a catalog that spans releases on Deep Root Records, Spinnin Deep, Higher Ground, and Insomniac, with support from Black Coffee, Diplo, Shimza, and Keinemusik. His music has reached millions of listeners, landed in major editorial playlists, and crossed into film through placements like Bolingo Nanga in the Francis Ngannou documentary. That experience feeds directly into HiNDE, shaping both its sound and its direction.
HiNDE is not positioned as a traditional label or a one off event series. It functions as a platform that connects artists, audiences, and culture through a shared sound that continues to grow beyond its origins. From Bulawayo and Harare to Miami, Mauritius, and the United States, it represents a new chapter for Afro House that is grounded in where it started while continuing to expand into new spaces.
