Overview

MESTIZA has quickly become one of the most recognizable names at the intersection of house music, flamenco, and Spanish cultural expression. Formed by Pitty Bernad and Belah in 2021, the duo emerged after more than a decade of individual careers in electronic music, united by a shared connection to the sounds they grew up with in Spain. Flamenco, coplas, palmas, and traditional Andalusian rhythms became the foundation of a project that set out to bring Spanish heritage into contemporary club culture without losing its emotional weight or identity.

At the center of the project is SACRO, the label and event concept created by MESTIZA. More than just a party series, SACRO has become a fully realized world built around music, aesthetics, and cultural storytelling. The concept merges flamenco with house, Afro house, and melodic electronic music while placing equal attention on visual presentation and atmosphere. From candlelit DJ booths and shawl-covered tables to live flamenco dancers and musicians performing alongside electronic sets, SACRO creates an environment that feels rooted in Spanish tradition while remaining firmly connected to today’s global dance floor.

What separates SACRO from many event brands is its consistency in identity. Every detail, from the music programming to the stage design and fashion direction, reflects MESTIZA’s vision of reinterpreting Spanish folklore through a modern lens. The duo has often spoken about wanting audiences around the world to feel the emotion and rhythm of flamenco, even if they do not understand the language or cultural references behind it. That idea has resonated far beyond Spain.

The project began in Madrid in late 2021 before quickly expanding to Ibiza, where SACRO launched its first summer season in 2022. Since then, Ibiza has become a core part of the brand’s growth, culminating in an eight-date residency in 2024 that sold out completely. Alongside their residency success, MESTIZA also made history as the first female DJ duo to hold a residency at Hï Ibiza, one of the most influential clubs in the world. It marked a major moment not only for the duo, but for female representation within electronic music at large.

As SACRO expanded internationally, the concept found audiences well beyond Spain. In 2024, the brand made its debut in Tulum before continuing into cities including London, Miami, and Dubai. The series has also hosted events across Barcelona, Málaga, Madrid, and Ibiza at venues such as Poble Espanyol, IFEMA Madrid, Parque Enrique Tierno Galván, Auditorio Málaga Cortijo de Torres, and Cova Santa. Several editions, including Barcelona’s Hivernacle BCN Pop Up Club and Brunch Electronik Madrid, sold out, reinforcing the growing global interest surrounding the project.

Musically, MESTIZA moves between deep house, Afro house, melodic house, and flamenco-driven percussion without forcing any one style into the spotlight. Their debut album Quëreles, released through their own imprint Sacro Music, became a defining moment for the duo. The record reached number one on Spain’s official vinyl chart and introduced a broader audience to their interpretation of Spanish-rooted electronic music. Tracks like “Campanera,” a reimagining of a Spanish classic, reflect the emotional core of the project — balancing traditional melodies with contemporary production designed for clubs and large-scale stages alike.

Fashion and visual identity are also deeply connected to the MESTIZA universe. Their styling often references classic Spanish silhouettes, flamenco textures, leather, and avant-garde tailoring, helping shape an image that feels tied to heritage without appearing nostalgic. Rather than separating music and presentation, MESTIZA treats both as part of the same artistic language.

Today, SACRO stands as both a label and an international event platform that continues to grow across Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. At a time when more artists are reconnecting with their cultural roots through electronic music, MESTIZA has positioned itself at the forefront of that movement, introducing a version of house music that feels personal, rhythmic, and unmistakably tied to where they come from.
