Going from a college basketball shooting guard to one of the scene’s most masterful DJ-producers may seem like a long shot, but it’s a feat

After over a decade of single and EP releases, Doty unveiled 

 on Anjunadeep on April 28, followed by a world tour featuring over 40 dates. Doty’s debut LP captures his signature sound seamlessly from start to finish displaying edgy analog synths, swirling melodies, and power-packed grooves. 

 contains a steady stream of everything we adore about Doty’s production style – a blissful blend of thumping deep house and tantalizing melodic techno. His melodic tunes are fun and danceable but also evoke emotion.

Canadian DJ and producer Simon Doty announces his debut album ‘Universal Language’. The ten-track LP will be released on Anjunadeep on the 28th of April 2023.

A firm favourite among fans of Anjunadeep, Simon first debuted on the label in 2019 with his track ‘Sama’ and has since put out five stand out EPs on the label, including ‘Hometown EP’, his ‘Living Sound EP’ and most recently, his collaborative cut ‘Touch The Sky’ with Marsh, which have collectively amassed over 3 million streams and support from the likes of Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Gorgon City and Ben Malone.

Crafted for the dancefloor, Simon’s debut album ‘Universal Language’ gives the audience a chance to listen to a range of musical styles that they can expect to hear Simon play during one of his DJ sets, ranging from house to deep house to melodic techno.

The album features a range of collaborations including American spoken word artist Ursula Rucker, british duo My Friend, singer / songwriter Tailor, UK-based producer and vocalist Artche, british songstress Ruth Royall and legendary American vocalist Roland Clark as well as a remix of JODA’s hit track ‘Closer’ (feat. Robyn Sherwell).

In support of his upcoming album, Simon has recently announced phase one of his ‘Universal Language’ tour. Featuring over 30 dates, the tour kicks off in February in North and South America, before moving over to Europe and Asia. More dates will be announced later this year.

The Canadian artist’s creative journey has earned the ear of foundational influences such as

Doty began working with Anjunadeep in 2019, starting with his track "Sama." Since then, the relationship has blossomed, resulting in more releases and a stunning performance at the label’s showcases worldwide, including The Brooklyn Mirage, this past July. Last year, Doty started his own label, RECESS, dedicated to signing unique artists and elevating dance music's current and future sounds.
