Street Parade

Street Parade is a colorful menagerie of DJs and party people. This annual event takes place in Zürich, Switzerland, and draws in thousands of dance music fans from all over the world. Street Parade is unique in that it includes both fixed stages as well as mobile platforms. Every year, colorful house and techno parade floats creep through the crowd of people gathered around Lake Zürich. Bright trucks equipped with giant sound systems and world-class DJs make this “the most beautiful day of the year” for some. Street Parade 2022 will take place on Saturday, August 13th.

2022 will mark the 29th anniversary of the Street Parade. Over 200 DJs will take eight stages and 30 “love mobiles'' partying deep into the night. The parade route is 2.4 km long (about 2.5 miles). It begins in the Zürich neighborhood of Seefeld before heading around the lakefront and arriving at Hafendamm Enge. The parties continue around the city and across the featured Street Parade stages until midnight. Like a massive raver’s block party, the entire Street Parade world is easily accessible on foot from central Zùrich.

Finally, after two years of cancellations, the Street Parade team announced in May of 2022 that the event would return. At the time of publication, no lineup has yet been released from the Street Parade team. However, the self-proclaimed “world's biggest event for electronic music” has featured some massive talent over the years. Richie Hawtin, Nina Kraviz, Monolink, and Joseph Capriati are only a few. The giant party also celebrates a yearly theme based on their ethos of love and acceptance. 2019 was “Colours of Unity.” 2018 was “Culture of Tolerance.” At the time of publication, no theme has yet been announced for 2022.

Thanks to The Street Parade Zürich Association, this event acts as a nonprofit organization. They stand behind their ethos of love, peace, freedom, generosity, and tolerance. As a public event, the Street Parade is financed almost exclusively by income from drinks and food stands. Though the event brings in millions for the city and the municipal costs are more than covered by the tax income they generate, no financial support has yet been granted by the City of Zurich.
