Overview
Resonating with the ‘frequency of the planet’, Masaka Africana embodies the ritualistic essence curated by DJ/producer Mickey Dastinz. Heading to the hills of Cova Santa in 2024, Masaka celebrations take place on selected Fridays, with confirmed dates including May 24 and 31, and July 7 and 14.
Masaka Africana emerges from a profound aspiration to forge a harmonious world, uniting humanity with its surroundings, rooted in a deep love for his Afro-Taína heritage and the resonating rhythms of Batá drums from the Dominican Republic.
Seamlessly fusing afro, deep, and progressive house melodies with tribal beats and live instrumentation, this experience embodies the essence of the Zulu tribe - celebrating their warrior spirit, traditional dance, and vibrant music.
Dastinz's objective is to channel healing energies through music and the accompanying rituals that echo across cultures and ancestral wisdom. Honoring the sun god, fostering positive emotions, and elevating human consciousness stand as paramount goals.
Inspired by ancient African spirituality, invoking powerful entities such as the fiery goddess Oya and the revered Angolan princess Njinga Mbandi, Masaka offers an immersive journey through the realms of art, music, and the primal language of dance.
Following triumphant events on the Peninsula and last summer in northern Ibiza, Masaka has discovered a new sanctuary amidst the pine-clad hills of San José, where it now resides for an exclusive summer residency.
