Overview
Aly El Sayed Amr Fathalah (Aly) and Fadi Wassef Naguib (Fila) have known each other since kindergarten. Growing up in Egypt, the duo began making music together when they were 18. After falling in love with the music of Paul van Dyk and Chicane, they knew that the world of trance music was calling to them.
Their premiere single, “Eye of Horus,” came out in a blaze across the airways. Despite being their very first official release, the track was picked up by EDM legends like Armin Van Buuren, Tiësto, and their hero Paul van Dyk.
Since that very first release, Aly & Fila have been dominating dancefloors around the world with their uplifting trance melodies and hard hitting beats. In the 20 years since then, they’ve done collaborative tracks with trance’s biggest influencers. One of whom, Armin Van Buuren, has hosted the duo multiple times on his iconic radio show A State of Trance. Aly & Fila became so popular on the international show that they’ve won the coveted “Tune of the Year” award from the show four separate times. The winning tracks include "We Control The Sunlight" in 2011,, "Unbreakable" in 2016, "Somebody Loves You" in 2020, and "For All Time" with Armin Van Buuren in 2021.
In 2009, they started their own label, Future Sound of Egypt Recordings, named after their own weekly radio show on DI.FM. Their label showcases other spectacular Egyptian trance DJs like Philippe el Sisi, Mohamed Ragab, and Brave. As for their radio show? In mid 2022, they’re now upwards of 750 episodes of the show.
Though a severe ear injury has kept Aly from touring in recent years, Aly & Fila are still represented at the scene’s most recognizable clubs and the world’s biggest festival stages. One thing is for sure, their euphoric take on dance music will keep you grooving until the sun comes up.
