Overview

Coyu is known for his love of cats just as much as he’s known for his techno music. This Spanish DJ and producer hails from Barcelona, and has become one of the most prominent players in dance music. Born as Ivan Ramos in 1985, Coyu is now an award-winning producer, label owner and, yes, cat lover.

Coyu gained recognition with a steady churn of releases on Cocoon, Get Physical, Noir Music, 100% Pure, Tronic and eventually his own label Suara. Additional remixes of Fatboy Slim, Joseph Capriati, and Moby only further skyrocketed the artist. Now, over ten years since his first release in 2009, Coyu is recognized as one of the most charted artists of Resident Advisor's history.

His record label, Suara, has become much more than just a label - though it has been named by RA as “one of the most prominent labels in the world of techno and house music.” Thanks to Ramos’ entrepreneurship, the Suara name is now a notable brand of house music and feline friends. The Suara Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps to care for and relocate abandoned street cats. The Suara Store–with a brick-and-mortar location in Barcelona–slings fashion items emblazoned with cat faces and tongue-in-cheek slogans about techno music.

Campy couture aside, Coyu isn’t kitten around with his music either (not sorry.) Suara has reached #1 on both Beatport and Resident Advisor with its records. In the fall of 2019, after 10 years of releasing music, Coyu excitedly put out his first full-length album. You Don’t Know'' features collaborations with some of the finest names in techno and electronica, including vocalists The Horrorist, Mike Leary, Gabriella Vergilov and Moby. Coyu has said, “with this album I want to change (the preconceived idea of who I am). I want to show a side of me that people have never seen.”
