Denis Sulta, né Hector Barbour, is a Scottish DJ and producer making vibrant house music with an underground feel. His music is vibrant and melodic but with an underground sensibility. With a growing following and a unique style, Denis Sulta is one to watch.

Barbour was born in Glasgow in 1993 and found dance music at a young age. He began his music career at 

, a well-known record shop in Glasgow. Here, he learned to produce and DJ with his colleagues, who shared a passion for the Glasgow scene. Barbour started promoting after-parties in obscure locations and eventually earned regular sets at 

 around the corner from the record shop.

, who also happened to be the owner of the record label 

s, discovered his early productions and helped Barbour release his debut EP, then using the name Atlus.

It's Only Real

His early tracks had a dark tone, but as he played, his music turned upbeat and energetic. To reflect this change in style, he adopted the new name Denis Sulta. He would go on to release EPs with Glasgow-based label 

. He took the brand on a global tour, which proved so successful that it led to curating his edition of 

, held at Hopetoun House just outside of Edinburgh.

Sulta's music has evolved over time, incorporating different styles and themes. In 2019 he released his biggest work to date, the EP 

. The release riffs on self-discovery, and the music is varied and surprising. In recent years, Sulta has earned a Mixmag cover and DJ support from

 when he hosted the BBC Radio 1 Residency.
