Overview
When Nuno Dos Santos is in control of the decks you can never be quite sure which direction he is going to take you in. Best known for his DJ residencies at the legendary club Trouw, one of his marathon sets might range from a viby house set freckled with lofi soundscapes fueled by poignant arps to a hypnotic techno journey filled with ambient intermezzos. One thing that is certain is that the Portugal-born, Dutch national will immerse you to his musical storytelling, communicated through seemingly contrasting genres and unforeseeable, unique selections. Not only an impassioned performer, the acclaimed producer has worked both as a soloist and in collaboration with artists like Patric Baumel, Estroe, Cosmic Force and TJ Kong. Along with the latter, Nuno released an album in 2010, “After Dark, My Sweet”, that was distributed on the Munich-based Compost Records. More recently, Nuno partnered with Cosmic Force; the duo released projects, under the moniker Ultrastation on imprints Mary Black and Alienata’s Discos Atonicos.
In 2012 Nuno launched his own record label called, “Something Happening Somewhere”, a name that leaves a lot open to personal imagination. Also recognized as SoHaSo, this imprint symbolizes the many different scenes that can be happening all at once - a party in a smoky club, cutting down a tree in a rainforest, a car crashing into a lamppost, or two people falling in love. SoHaSo is a thoughtfully curated label that has an unmistakable independent musical voice that supports releases by like minded artists such as Kiani & his Legion, Polynation, and Love over Entropy, and remixes by The Drifter, Dixon, and Fatima Yamaha. Each record provides the listener with their own little world to get lost in. Nuno’s label has also served as a vessel for the artists’ own projects like 2017’s Trigonometry of Love EP. International showcases throughout Europe and beyond provide further evidence of SoHaSo’s vitality and Nuno’s abilities as a prominent key figure in modern dance music.
