Dusky and the Foundation of 17 Steps

Dusky, the London-based duo of Nick Harriman and Alfie Granger-Howell, have become central figures in the global dance music scene, recognized for their skillful blend of house, garage, and techno. The pair met as teenagers in Camden, London, and quickly bonded over a shared passion for 90s electronica and pirate radio. With Harriman focused on music production and Granger-Howell on composition, they initially made music independently before coming together as Dusky. Their early work under the name Solarity gained some recognition, but it was their rebranding as Dusky in 2011 that marked a significant turning point.
