Overview

Dusky, the London-based duo of Nick Harriman and Alfie Granger-Howell, have become central figures in the global dance music scene, recognized for their skillful blend of house, garage, and techno. Their rise from local DJs to internationally respected artists reflects a clear vision and deep understanding of dance music.

The pair met as teenagers in Camden, London, and quickly bonded over a shared passion for 90s electronica and pirate radio. With Harriman focused on music production and Granger-Howell on composition, they initially made music independently before coming together as Dusky. Their early work under the name Solarity gained some recognition, but it was their rebranding as Dusky in 2011 that marked a significant turning point.

Their debut album, Stick By This, released in 2011, drew attention from influential figures like Pete Tong and played a crucial role in establishing them in the electronic music world. This album set the stage for their future success and earned them a nomination for BBC Essential Mix of the Year.

Dusky has since become a regular at some of the most well-known venues and festivals globally. Their residency at London’s Fabric, a club known for its pivotal role in the dance music community, was a major milestone. They have also performed at prestigious venues like Berlin's Panorama Bar and Printworks in London, as well as leading festivals such as Ultra Music Festival, Creamfields, and Glastonbury.

In 2014, Harriman and Granger-Howell founded their own record label, 17 Steps, providing a platform for their music and that of other artists they respect. The label has released music from a range of artists, including Nathan Micay, LTJ Bukem, and Interplanetary Criminal, while also serving as a home for Dusky’s own work.

Throughout their career, Dusky have remained influential by consistently delivering high-quality music that resonates with both the underground scene and broader audiences. Their live performances, whether in a festival setting or an intimate club, are known for their impact and connection with the crowd.

Dusky’s journey from the underground clubs of London to international stages is a clear reflection of their talent and understanding of the dance music world. Their work continues to be relevant and respected, making them a significant presence in the global dance music scene.
