Felix Cartal’s Streaming Festival Supports LGBTQ Advocacy Group The Ally Coalition

From bass-heavy hooks to emotive electro-pop, Felix Cartal, real name Taelor Deitcher, is no novice to the music industry. He is an electronic producer who has struck success by constantly digging deeper, exploring new sounds that feel authentic to him. His immeasurable creativity and ever evolving style, combined with a witty and sometimes dry social media presence has propelled Cartal into the mainstream.

Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Cartal first poked his head into the world of EDM when he listened to Daft Punk’s “Homework”. Inspired by the album, he channeled all of his focus and energy into learning how to produce. His debut LP “Popular Music” was released in 2010 and for the next two years Cartal toured extensively throughout North America, establishing himself as a DJ with performances at EDC, Ultra, and tomorrowland. Eventually, a MySpace reach out from Steve Aoki led to Cartal getting signed by Dim Mak. After releasing a few more EPs, the ‘vocal chop‘ became the artist’s signature sound. A prime example of this stylistic choice can be heard on his remix cover of the New Radicals song, “Get What You Give” - the song that earned him his first certified Gold Record.

His penchant for producing upbeat house music with, often, melodramatic lyrics has landed him collaborations with massive household names such as Kaskade, R3HAB, and Sulan + Shephard. His partnership on the song “Love Me” with prolific singer LIGHTS reached platinum in Canada and won the Dance Recording of the Year at the Junos 2020. His latest album, “Expensive Sounds For Nice People” on Physical Presents pushes for more uplifting vibes that Cartal hopes will lead fans to big and emotional feelings on the dancefloor. Even though the Canadian has a discography that dates back to 2009 and a few prestigious awards that he has collected along the way, there’s a sense that he is just getting started.
