François Xavier-Zoumenou, aka François X, is a free spirit who runs on passion and as such has many different disciplines that he concentrates on - tennis, finance, and of course techno. It’s important to note that it wasn’t in François’ plan to become a DJ, producer, and internationally recognized label owner. Spending his early years heavily focused on hitting green balls, it was people from the tennis club who unknowingly set François on a new path when they invited him to Queen. Getting lost in the middle of the dancefloor, he grooved along to an Armand Van Helden set that completely changed his life as he discovered a whole new world.
Born in Levallois-Perret, France, the Parisian techno maestro first garnered attention in the mid 2000s as a frenzied techno enthusiast with debut releases on DJ Deep’s Deeply Rooted House and notable appearances at a slew of renowned clubs. However, his career really took off with his Concrete residency that began in 2011. Here he consistently delivered four-hour sets where he experimented with his music to perfect his crowd control. Around the same time as his residency, he started his label Dement3d Records, an imprint noted by Resident advisor as a ‘key cog in the French music renaissance’. In 2018, François released his debut LP “Irregular Passion” which Groove Magazine recognized as one of their top albums of the year. In 2019, he decided to completely reshape his first album, favoring an emotional and sensual feeling in his production style.
The next stage of François’ career was set with the introduction of his new label, XX Lab, founded in 2021. The intention of XX Lab is to support independent artists with an ‘avant-garde electronic music aesthetic’. With the birth of this new brand, François returned to the soundsphere with new music and new energy.
