Canadian artist Nitin Kalyan has played the role of promoter, label boss, record store owner, producer, and most importantly, DJ. For more than 20 years, this house music maven has created a culture for music lovers. What started in his hometown of London, Ontario in Canada, has now taken the artist across the globe and to the top of the charts.
When Nitin got his first taste of Detroit house music over the radio, he was instantly hooked. He felt inspired to pursue a career in music for the first time, and he knew exactly where he wanted to take it. One day, while perusing a record store in Detroit, Nitin hit it off with Mike Huckaby, a widely recognized DJ in the Detroit area. This fateful meeting eventually snagged Nitin a performance spot at club Shelter when he was 17.
Eventually, Nitin started throwing parties and raves in his hometown and in Toronto, where he eventually relocated. After a while, he established himself as a prominent promoter in Canada. He joined the newly launched Gem Events team and began tailoring any kind of event he could dream up, from underground warehouses & afterparties to massive concerts & festivals across the Americas. Shortly after he began touring across North America before slowly bridging the gap overseas and started playing in Europe. His current performance resume includes slots at coveted clubs around the world like DC-10 in Ibiza, Fabric in London, Warung in Brazil, and Panorama Bar in Berlin.
In 2008 he launched the now well-respected record label No.19 Music with his co-founder Jonny White. Nearly 15 years later, the label has released originals and remixes from Art Department, Jamie Jones, Soul Clap, and many more.
These days, Nitin spends his time relentlessly in the studio. His original muse of old-school Detroit house still heavily influences his sound. And after nearly three decades of practice, he’s been referred to as “one of the most technically gifted DJs around.”
