TENASHEE
Overview
Tenashee is the collaborative brainchild of DJ Tennis (Manfredi Romano) and Ashee (Joseph Ashworth), two artists with deep roots in electronic music who came together to create something far removed from the typical club format. More than just a duo—it’s a project built on mutual respect, shared musical obsessions, and a desire to explore new ground at the intersection of sound and visual art.
The idea for Tenashee took shape during the isolation of the pandemic. DJ Tennis, stranded in the Caribbean, and Ashee, working from home in London, started trading sounds and sketches back and forth—no deadlines, no pressure, just a creative dialogue. What began as casual experimentation grew into a focused project that allowed both artists to step outside the constraints of the dance floor and rediscover the joy of making music without an endgame.

The result is music that blends IDM, ambient, breakbeat, and experimental club elements with a sense of freedom you can hear in every track. Ashee brings his sharp, percussive edge and wide production chops (with releases on Circoloco, Life and Death, and Aus Music), while DJ Tennis draws from a lifetime of musical exploration—managing punk bands, running his Life and Death label, and playing everywhere from Panorama Bar to Glastonbury. Together, they tap into something that feels raw, cerebral, and atmospheric, without losing touch with groove.
Tenashee made its formal debut in September 2024 with SUPERPOSITION, a multi-channel A/V installation at London’s W1 Studios. Created in collaboration with digital artist MAOTIK, the piece transformed the gallery space into a constantly shifting visual environment, reacting in real time to audio from Tenashee’s original compositions. SUPERPOSITION wasn’t just an art installation; it served as a stage for their first-ever live audiovisual performance—a fully immersive experience that blurred the line between electronic concert and contemporary art.

That live A/V debut, held on September 19th at W1, revealed what Tenashee is truly about: a sensory experience that folds together sound design, visual storytelling, and emotional tone. Unlike a typical DJ set, Tenashee performances offer a curated journey through fractured rhythms, expansive pads, melodic tension, and custom-built visuals that respond directly to the music.

Both artists still maintain their solo paths—DJ Tennis continues to lead the Life and Death label and push new talent, while Ashee remains a sought-after producer and DJ. But in Tenashee, they’ve created a creative space where the club isn't the limit—where they can stretch into gallery settings, AV environments, and longform live sets that let the music breathe differently.
More music is on the way, along with future performances and expanded audiovisual collaborations. For those who appreciate electronic music with texture, mood, and meaning, Tenashee offers a deep and evolving experience worth keeping your eyes—and ears—on.
