The Golden Pony started out as a five-piece electro-rock band in Brooklyn. Then, it whittled down to a two-person DJ group. Now, there's one man behind it all. But through every iteration, Timothy Monkiewicz was there. It’s been nearly a decade since The Golden Pony began, and since then, the project has gathered over 1,000,000 plays on Soundcloud, had three #1 hits on Hype Machine, and played some of the biggest festivals in the world.

Based out of Brooklyn, New York, Timothy (Tim, as he’s better known) was writing and producing all the music for The Golden Pony as the live electro band. Simultaneously, he was crafting tech house beats and bootleg remixes, uploading them hopefully to Soundcloud. Eventually, the band faded into the background. Tim, along with his friend Thomas Murphy, began focusing on the more production heavy side of The Golden Pony.

Around 2014, The Golden Pony remixes of pop songs from the past like Simon and Garfunkel’s “Sound of Silence”, Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It like Its Hot”, and Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” began heating up the ears of millions across the internet. Known then as “the curly male duo,” they gained commercial success with their 2016 remix of Rudimental’s “Common Emotion”. As residents for BangOn! NYC (a production company that Tim co-created) the duo got a chance to hone their skills in dropping bangers and massive party tracks. They would eventually go on to support huge artists like Ben Böhmer, Claptone, and Louis The Child. In 2018, they made their Elrow debut at the rave behemoth’s yearly Brooklyn production.

Around 2021, The Golden Pony started presenting as a solo act, with just Tim as the face of the alias. The project also began releasing more indie pop, radio-friendly tracks, working with vocalists like Good Fine Ok and Savoir Adore. He also was recruited–officially this time–to do remixes for Hilary Duff, Megan Vice, and Tinashe.

While juggling work with BangOn!, The Golden Pony, and his flagship Elements Festival, it’s clear that Tim Monkiewicz loves what he does, and he’s damn good at it.
