Vince Watson is a producer, DJ, and live performer from Glasgow, Scotland with over 25 years in the electronic music industry. Since starting his career he has released over 250 projects worldwide, including 11 albums and 75 remixes. His eclectic style and skills in the booth and in the studio have allowed him to work with some of the very best electronic musicians such as Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Osunlade, Carl Craig, Steve Bug, and Josh Wink.
Vince started DJing at his school’s weekend discos, with a selection of early house and hip-hop records guiding the night’s rhythm. While attending the Royal Academy of Arts, Music, and Theater in Glasgow for piano lessons he amassed a vinyl collection unlike any other young DJ. Composers like Herbie Hancock, Derrick May, and French showman Jean Michel Jarre influenced the young Glaswegian and to this day his production style emulates what he took away from their music. Vince stands out as an artist who knows how to manipulate a keyboard to create an elegant and seductive ambiance while using complex chords to paint productions into something more dense and melodic.
In 1995, Dave Angel kick started Vince’s career by picking up one of his first demos and signing him to his imprint, Rotation. After striking up the relationship, the pair set up a residency at The Arena in Glasgow. This launched him into the techno scene and granted him many opportunities to build his name. Known for his groovy, melodic, and atmospheric sounds, his work caused a major impact in the electronic scene. After finding success he launched his own label, Bio Music, which has released quality techno music by Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Shawn Rudiman, and FunkdVoid. Armed with a decade of boundary pushing production and holistic understanding of what it means to be an artist, Vince continues to release content under Tresor, Planet E, Everysoul, Delsin, Bio, Fcom, Ibadan, Mule, and Urban Torque.
