Every longtime raver has that story, that event, or that memory that turned them from a fan or hobbyist into a full-blown dance music fanatic. For Justin Savoie and TJ Wiler, that event was Holy Ship!, which the pair attended together, and which also solidified their love of house music and their desire to take this enthusiasm to the next level. Captivated by both the sounds and the experiences at this quintessential event, the pair was motivated to start creating music of their own together, under the onstage moniker Yokai.

Pulling inspiration from the name of a Japanese supernatural spirit, Savoie and Wiler have established a modern, trendy, and club-ready tech-house sound that’s garnered recognition from big-time artists like David Guetta (who selected their song, “Drugs,” as part of his curated playlist on Spotify) as well as across the North American festival circuit, touring extensively across the United States as well as Mexico.

Though the pair is still up-and-coming, they’ve racked up an impressive resume thus far.  They have bookings at festivals like Atlanta’s Imagine Music Festival, Florida’s Okeechobee, New York City’s Electric Zoo, and Miami’s Groove Cruise under their belts. They’ve also played Insomniac Events’ flagship Electric Daisy Carnival—both the Orlando and Las Vegas iterations. Thus far, they’ve also released a smattering of singles as well as a two-track EP, ‘Community EP, Vol. 1’ with Bob Remis. They’ve collaborated with artists including Faucon, Sink, and Too Heavy Crew, and their 2021 track “Stronger,” was remixed by VIP. Yokai themselves have been behind a remix of international superstar Bad Bunny’s “Tití Me Preguntó,” released in 2022. The pair has released tracks on Rawsome Records and Low Ceiling Music, in addition to really hitting the big leagues through opening sets for the likes of DJ Snake, Wax Motif, and Chris Lake.
