Overview

On December 28th, we are excited to welcome Paul van Dyk, a legend in the music industry, to Webster Hall in New York. Born Matthias Paul on December 16, 1971, Paul van Dyk is a renowned German DJ, record producer, and musician. He was the first artist to receive a Grammy nomination in the Best Dance/Electronic album category for his 2003 release "Reflections." In 2005, he became the first DJ to be named number one by Mixmag. By 2008, he had sold over 3 million albums worldwide.

Paul van Dyk began his career in the early 1990s, quickly gaining popularity with his remix of "Love Stimulation" by Humate and his hit single "For an Angel." He chose his Belgian-sounding stage name due to his early use of Belgian dance records. He currently hosts "Vonyc Sessions with Paul" on Dash Radio.

Growing up in East Berlin, van Dyk was influenced by Western radio stations and mixtapes smuggled into the country. After moving to Hamburg and then back to Berlin, he made his DJ debut at Tresor in 1991 and gained further recognition at Andre'Hoche's Dubmission parties. Collaborating with Cosmic Baby as The Visions of Shiva, he released influential tracks and hosted a nationwide radio show.

Van Dyk's fifth studio album, "In Between," was released in 2007, featuring collaborations with artists like David Byrne and Jessica Sutta. His music has been featured in EA Games and various film soundtracks. He has also remixed tracks for artists like Depeche Mode, Justin Timberlake, and Britney Spears.

Paul van Dyk has received numerous awards, including a Grammy nomination and multiple International Dance Music Awards. He is known for his philanthropic efforts, including work with children's charities and the German Red Cross. Despite a busy touring schedule, he continues to produce music and host his weekly radio show "Paul van Dyk's VONYC Sessions."

PvD's impact on music is immense, with sold-out tours, headlining major festivals, and a dedicated global fanbase. He remains a pivotal figure in the industry, influencing generations of DJs and music lovers.
