Greek-born, UK-based DJ and producer Argyris Theofilis, more widely known by his onstage moniker—and a shortened version of his first name—Argy, has proven to have real sticking power in the world of dance music. Over the course of his long and storied career, Theofilis has landed gigs that most artists only dream of, played in iconic venues that have cemented themselves in dance music history, and released on labels that are synonymous with prestige and success in the industry.

As a young man, Argy cut his teeth at the notable Panorama Bar in Berlin, which is the smaller, upstairs, house-focused portion of the iconic Berghain, which traditionally has been a gathering place for fans of techno and has been hailed as one of the most seminal locations for the genre. Argy has also played or held residencies at a slew of the most popular clubs on Ibiza, including Amnesia, Space, Pacha, and Destino. He’s been on the lineup at festivals like Istanbul’s Imera & Niks Carnaval, alongside Meduza, CamelPhat, Sam Paganini, and more, as well as Birmingham’s The Rainbow Venues Festival, alongside Richie Hawtin, Pan-Pot, Jamie Jones, Guy Gerber, and others.

Argy has also been quite prolific in terms of his own releases, sharing full length albums on labels like Crosstown Rebels, Moscow Records, Cuttin’ Headz, Play It Say It, Desolat, and Cocoon. He’s also collaborated with a slew of notable artists in their own right, including The Martinez Brothers, CamelPhat, Stimming, Luciano, and Solomun, in addition to joining forces with superstars Tegan and Sara and Matthew Dear for the highly successful “More Horses,” released in 2022. Argy’s skill set was also mined for a reimagining of Hardrive’s 1993 hit “Deep Inside,” for an advertisement corresponding with the release of luxury fashion designer Carolina Herrera’s 212 VIP Black and VIP Rosé eau de toilette perfume.
