Ultra Miami Unveils the Resistance Lineup for 2022

Born Ali Shirazinia, Dubfire is an Iranian American DJ and producer who is prolific in the electronic music scene. Growing up in the Washington D.C. area, Dubfire’s musical journey started similarly to countless others - playing in bands at local dives and small clubs. Then in 1990, a friend introduced him to Sharam Tayebi; the pair sparked a friendship instantly and soon after they formed Deep Dish.

Deep Dish cemented his place in the electronic music industry and pioneered commercial success, winning a prestigious Grammy in 2001 and accumulating an array of other accolades along the way. Though at the peak of their success, the duo made the decision to step away from a joint venture and pursue solo careers. Thus, his alias, Dubfire was born.

This new path provided Dubfire with an opportunity to explore and express his deep love for underground house and techno. His production style is noticeably different from that of Deep Dish, which consisted heavily of progressive house. With this resurgence of creativity came an arsenal of innovative new music that quickly integrated him into the minimalist scene. Some of the artists’ early tracks including ‘RibCage’, ‘Emissions’ and ‘Roadkill’, along with iconic remixes of Plastikman’s “Spastic’ and Radio Slave and Danton Eeprom’s ‘Grindhouse’ showed the world his ability to evolve and grow within the new era of the vast techno genre.

Always looking to shake up the status quo, Dubfire reinvented the concert/festival experience in 2015 with his critically acclaimed HYBRID show, leading to a two-year world tour that would serve as the inspiration for his retrospective album, ‘HYBRID - A Decade of Dubfire’ released in 2017. Now, after three decades of relentless work in the form of cutting-edge production, running his label SCI+TEC, and constantly pushing the envelope of audio and visual technology, Dubfire is just as determined to take on the next decade.
