Overview

Detroit's Movement Festival is gearing up for its 2025 edition, promising another unforgettable experience in the birthplace of techno. Taking place at Hart Plaza over Memorial Day weekend (May 24-26), the festival will feature a strong lineup of international and local talent across six uniquely themed stages.

Headlining this year's event are renowned artists such as Carl Cox, who will be performing a hybrid live set, Charlotte de Witte, Nina Kraviz, Jamie xx, and John Summit. The lineup also boasts the return of Detroit techno pioneers Carl Craig and DJ Minx, alongside first-time Movement performers including Sammy Virji, Anfisa Letyago, UK's Drum & Bass trailblazers Chase & Status, and Berlin's rising star DJ Gigola.

Beyond the impressive musical offerings, attendees can look forward to the festival's immersive atmosphere, enhanced by large-scale art installations and murals through the Movement Artist in Residence (AIR) program. The "Respect the Architects" exhibition will also return, celebrating the unsung heroes of Detroit's electronic music history. A brand-new addition to the festival's showcases is Waajeed's Underground Music Academy (UMA) Showcase, which mentors and educates Detroit's future DJs.

Movement 2025 will offer a diverse culinary experience with a wide selection of food vendors. For those looking for an elevated experience, VIP passes are available, providing dedicated entrances, exclusive bar areas, private bathrooms, and access to VIP viewing platforms. As always, the festival will honor Detroit's rich musical heritage while showcasing the cutting edge of electronic music.
