Mall Grab Returns Home with a High-Energy Set for Boiler Room Melbourne

 once deemed a Mall Grab show as “the first great rave of the year.” The Australian-raised, London-based producer is known for his lofi ode to classic house. Born Jordon Alexander, the young artist began DJing when he was 12, mostly using his father’s Talking Heads records. By the late 2000’s, he was avidly following the influential French electronic music label Ed Banger. The label focused particularly on French house, but also featured alternative dance, electro, hip hop, nu disco, and synthpop. It’s clear the wide musical taste of his childhood had an effect on young Alexander’s ear.

 EP brought his lo-fi house sound out of the rabbit holes of YouTube and into the mainstream. The four tracks carry a dusty, vaguely far off sound, which gets layered over drowsy, throwback four by four beats. His follow up EP, 

earned a nod from Pitchfork for the track “Drive.” The music magazine asks candidly of the track, 

“did Australian producer Mall Grab invent rainforest techno?”

Now operating full-time out of the UK, the producer likes to reserve mainly unreleased tracks and deep cuts for his live shows. He’s been consistently praised for his live shows, some saying that it’s in the club where he “does the realest damage.”

In mid-2022, Mall Grab announced the upcoming release of his debut, 13-track LP,  

The album is set to drop in August of 2022 via his own imprint, Looking For Trouble, which the artist first founded in 2018. Supporting the album are a few pre-released singles, including 

, an hardcore-leaning hard-hitter featuring Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates.

‘What I Breathe’ will feature artists like Nia Archives, Novelist, D Double E, and Mall Grab under an additional alias, a dream-pop solo project which will appear in the final track, ‘Lost in Harajuku’.
