Overview
RSquared is the collaborative project of Ryan and Rory, two producers and DJs who met while studying at Bournemouth University. What began as separate paths as solo artists shifted after an unexpected back to back set brought them together. The connection during that performance led them to continue working as a duo, forming RSquared and developing a shared direction rooted in house and techno.
Since their debut EP in 2020, RSquared has built a strong catalogue of releases across respected labels including Defected, Knee Deep in Sound, Paco Osuna’s Mindshake, and Deeperfect. A key moment in their development came with the release of Brown Eyes, a track that helped define their sound through a mix of tech house and subtle 80s influences. The record gained wide support and opened the door to further opportunities, including a relationship with Hot Since 82 and his Knee Deep in Sound imprint.
Their productions have been played by leading names such as Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Paco Osuna, and Hot Since 82, with early highlights including hearing their track Reminiscence played at a Circus event in Liverpool following the return of large scale events after the pandemic. Beyond the club circuit, RSquared has also received consistent radio backing from BBC Radio 1 and Capital Dance, helping their music reach a broader audience and drive engagement around each release.
Working between Essex and Portsmouth, the duo has developed a remote workflow that allows ideas to move back and forth with ease. One will begin a track and the other will build on it, creating a process that keeps their output fresh while maintaining consistency. Alongside studio work, their schedule has expanded to include international touring, with growing demand in regions such as South America.
Their catalogue also includes one of their most streamed releases on the American label House Hats Collective, reflecting the demand for their sound beyond the UK. As they continue to release music and perform worldwide, RSquared remains focused on refining their sound and adapting to an industry that now requires artists to balance production, performance, and content creation.
