ANTS | BBC Radio 1 Dance Live
Event Recommendation
It wouldn’t be a BBC Radio 1 weekender without an epic party at Ushuaïa Ibiza. Get ready to dance from day to night as ANTS and BBC Radio 1 Dance team up once again to bring the house down at Ushuaïa Ibiza on Saturday, July 29. This is the 2nd installment of the biggest weekend of the summer, following BBC R1 Dance at 528 Ibiza. Radio 1 parties at Ushuaïa Ibiza are pretty legendary, and after 25 years of annual parties on this magical island, this edition stands to be no exception. The lineup that has been put together for this event is pretty special. Leading the charge is none other than ANTS resident and underground maestro, Andrea Oliva, teaming up with the Trick label boss, Patrick Topping, for a back-to-back set that's going to blow your mind. We’ve also got the Mancunian mavericks, Solardo, bringing their unique vibes to the party, as well as Radio 1 veteran, Pete Tong. It wouldn't be an R1 Ibiza weekender without him! Representing the BBC R1 family, we've got Arielle Free, and the Scottish duo LF System are ready to bring their intoxicating dance energy to the stage. And to top it all off, we've got the Defected prodigies, Louie and Lucas, AKA the Dunmore Brothers. ANTS is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and has already been throwing some of the wildest parties with the biggest lineups ever seen. The Radio 1 edition is set to follow suit, with the legendary party expected to make it one of the busiest Saturdays of the summer season. If you haven’t got your tickets already, make sure you do it quickly. This one is due to be a sell-out. The lineup Swiss-born Andrea Oliva taught himself to DJ at 13 years of age and built his career organically since then, first getting booked for some of Switzerland's best clubs and then taking on Ibiza and the rest of the world. Oliva has been a prominent name in the ANTS lineups since the party’s conception in 2013 and has played all over the island, cementing himself as an artist that curates outstanding underground sets and controls a crowd like no other. Patrick Topping is an influential English DJ and music producer who also owns the record label company, Trick. Known for his releases on Hot Creations, Hottrax, and Relief Records, Topping has topped the Beatport Tech House charts and has been awarded for his work, notably receiving DJ Awards for Newcomer DJ and Track of the Season in Ibiza for his summer hit "Forget" in 2014. Solardo, the Mancunian duo comprised of James Eliot and Mark Richards, is widely recognized for their transformative impact on the underground music scene as popular DJs, label owners, and innovative producers. Their meteoric rise was fueled by a string of early releases, the establishment of their iconic Sola imprint, and notable hits such as “Tribesmen,” “Be Somebody,” and “XTC”. Pete Tong, a transformative figure in the electronic music scene, has dedicated his career to discovering and sharing exceptional music and talent, notably through his Ibiza Classics project which reimagines dance music anthems with a live orchestra. Beyond his influential radio shows, Tong's focus has shifted towards curating immersive musical experiences, mentoring new talent, and contributing to the industry through his role at ThreeSixZero Recordings and the International Music Summit, all while continuing to explore his passion for DJing and music production. Scottish duo LF System originally made a name for themselves as part of a 5-man-string DJ collective, and have now played some of the best clubs and festivals around the world as a pair. They’ve showcased their DJing skills at prominent venues and events like the Radio 1 Dance Party Weekend, Latitude Festival, and Sub Club and have been headhunted to remix tracks by the likes of Diplo, Fatboy Slim, and Carl Cox. Scottish DJ and producer Arielle Free started her career in music as the host of Ministry of Sound’s Radio Drive Time before being spotted by the BBC. Not only an incredible radio host, but her DJ skills have led her to play at some of the best clubs and festivals in the UK, including Printworks, Creamfields, Parklife, and Glastonbury- as well as playing Radio 1 weekenders in Ibiza. The music most definitely runs in the family. Brothers Lucas and Louie, better known as Dunmore Brothers, are the sons of Defected’s original head honcho and have made waves in the electronic music scene over the last few years, working seamlessly together behind the decks. With global clubs and festivals under their belt, the boys are currently upping their skills in production and A&R, showing signs of becoming truly unstoppable.
