Overview
Manchester-born house music duo Solardo are living up to the illustrious musical reputation of their home city. Made up of Mark Richards & James Eliot, they were early adopters of the high-flying tech house sound, and they’re now reaping the rewards all around the world.
Throughout the past few years they’ve touched down on some of the most prolific record labels in house music. From Steve Lawer’s Viva, to Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations, to the imprint extension of Spain’s most epic party, elrow, wherever Richards and Eliot go, danceable beats are close behind. Now they are commanding their own imprint, Sola, to welcome like-minded producer’s to the party like CamelPhat, Secondcity, Mason Maynard and Will Easton.
The reverence from Richards and Eliot’s hometown was in full force when they sold out the legendary underground event The Warehouse Project. This benchmark comes alongside gigs at various European hotspots like Barcelona, Milan and Rotterdam as well as festival dates at Glastonbury, Lovebox, Tomorrowland, Hideout and Parklife. Parklife was extra special when they performed in front of 14,000 people, headlining the Hangar.
The US loves tech house, too and Richards and Eliot have made their mark in America over and over at Movement Detroit, Ultra Music Festival, EDC Las Vegas, and more celebrated festivals
This Summer as Ibiza fully opens for the first time in three years, Richards and Eliot will return to an island where they’ve played countless times. They’ve held a residency at Hï Ibiza in the past, and beyond tht they’ve touched all the major clubs and parties like Circoloco and Paradise at DC-10 and ANTS at Ushuaïa
It’s hard to imagine Richards and Eliot have hit any more accolades in their wildly impressive career, but it’s true. They have provided their own mix to the legendary Essential Mix series on BBC Radio 1 and they were named DJ Mag’s Best Breakthrough DJs of 2016 and Best Duo of 2017.
What more could they want? Who knows. But Richards and Eliot surely want to continue honoring Manchester with unapologetic raucous house music.
