AYYBO & Guests
Brooklyn, New York
Overview
You may be wondering where a name like Ayybo comes from. Well it’s the alias of Southern Californian house music producer and DJ, Aaron Bonnema, and you heard it here first, he’s the next big name in tech house. Now, he's bringing his talents back to Brooklyn at The Chocolate Factory on March 16th.
Unlike Ayybo’s peers, he has just two years of releasing music under his belt, yet has garnered tens of millions of streams and hundreds of thousands of social media followers. Not many artists can say that they’ve accumulated figures like this, on top of co-signs with artists like Shaq (UK) and John Summit, and an official remix from Pitbull during the first two years of their career.
A new face of the industry he may be, but he’s never been too far away from music with a childhood that was enriched in a wide variety of sonics. From ska culture, to artists such as Outkast and the Chemical Brothers, he went on to spend his school breaks mashing together trap music, moombahton, bass house, big room, and even pop, in the middle of the courtyard while his peers ate lunch.
With help from Ableton software and YouTube tutorials, he began producing bass music and trap, both rooted heavily in the hip-hop he loved growing up. In Spring 2021, Ayybo soft-launched his career with edits of mainstream tracks such as Ciara’s “1,2 Step,” and Eminem’s “Shake That”, with tech-house’s most prominent feature, engulfing basslines.
In 2022, he began focusing on his original discography, and released tracks “GDB” and “Do This,” both on Zeds Dead’s Altered States imprint. To this day, Hypnosis (2022) has been his most compelling release, with DJs and tastemakers such as Pete Tong, MistaJam, and DJ S.K.T rinsing it in their sets, whilst the track became a TikTok sensation at the same time. To date, the phenomenon has collected nearly 20 million Spotify plays.
His latest release Rizz, released on his own GDB Records label, is the next track of the talented starlets to look out for. You heard it here first, we think it’s going to be his biggest one yet.
Joining Ayybo for this jumping night is NYC-based Kamino, a seasoned player in the scene since 2010 with roots in London's underground parties. Kamino has made waves with impressive releases on labels like John Summit’s Off The Grid, Solotoko, Armada Subjekt, Techne, South of Saturn, and Insomniac, and has lit up stages at events like EDC, The Mirage, and Movement Detroit, among others.
