Overview

Florence, Italy’s rich artistic culture goes beyond its visual art and architecture that people from around the world travel to see. The city also hosts many live music performances and festivals, with one of the largest local events being Decibel Open Air, which takes place right outside the city at Parco delle Cascine. This two-day music festival is happening on September 10-11, 2022 with a lineup of music to dance to from noon to midnight each day.

For its fourth edition, Decibel Open Air presents its largest event to date with over 40 artists, a new location, and a third stage added to their previous two-stage setup. Thrown by Decibel Events, Nautilus Event, and Vivo Concerts, the festival hosts an eclectic blend of house, techno, and a range of electronic subgenres and sounds. Across three stages hosted by DOA, elrow, and Terminal V, festival-goers will experience an exceptional blend of live instrumentation and electronic production.

A familiar face to Decibel, German artist Paul Kalkbrenner will be headlining the festival for the 3rd time with his awe-inspiring live techno production. Additionally, Canadian composer Caribou will be traveling to Florence to grace Italy with his live psychedelic pop-tinged electronic production. Alongside the two international headliners, Italian artist Cosmo is also bringing a live set to Decibel.

The rest of the lineup is stacked with emerging names, internationally touring acts, and major electronic movers and shakers.

Amongst some of the must-see artists are South Korean DJ Peggy Gou and London-based Elkka, both bringing ground-quaking house to the event. Kölsch, a Danish electronic legend, and Belgian DJ Amelie Lens, owner of the Lenske record label, are other can’t-miss artists. And if you’re a fan of the mega tech house hit “Losing It,” then make sure to catch Australian producer Fisher.

Though the lineup is diverse and full of international acts, Decibel left plenty of room for local talent. Italian underground tech house giant Dimmish, Autektone Records founder T78, techno mogul Marco Carola, and Italy-born London-based Giulia Tess are just a few of the homegrown acts taking the stage.

And as seen with the headliners, Decibel delivers on the live electronic acts. Other artists performing live sets include Italian duo 99999999, multi-instrumentalist Giorgia Angiuli, UK-based duo Overmono, festival returner Pôngo, renowned techno producer Reinier Zonneveld, and French producer Vitalic.

Decibel Open Air festival is expected to welcome around 17,000 attendees from all around the world to the largest park in Florence. The massive outdoor space sits along the Arno River and offers views of the stunning city in the distance. In addition to the three stages, Decibel will also have plenty of food and beverage options throughout the festival grounds.
