Loco Dice
Brooklyn, New York
Overview
Say farewell to summer on Labor Day on the roof of Superior Ingredients with minimal tech mastermind Loco Dice. A cornerstone of the dance music community, the veteran DJ and producer's chunky beats, thick basslines, and dance floor pumping technical mixing is the perfect soundtrack to close out the long weekend in New York.
Loco Dice has been an innovative guiding force in house and techno for over two decades. Founder of multiple record labels, including the groundbreaking Desolat, where he (alongside Martin Buttrich) released chart-topping music from Dubfire, Luciano, Davide Squillace, Pirupa, and Dj Sneak.
More recently, he minted a new imprint, En Couleur. Born out of the pandemic, Loco Dice is using the new label to explore further how he can influence the broader sounds of electronic music. His Ya Free EP, released in 2021, spans the sounds of house and techno from the funky acid house on the title track to the off-kilter tech of "Nasty Train."
As a sought-after producer, he continues to steer the sound of underground dance with a sound that brilliantly straddles the line between house and techno. His catalog of essential releases runs deep, including remixes for Meduza, Kevin Saunderson, and Black Coffee and collaborations with the likes of Ghostface Killah, Timo Maas, and Chris Liebing. He's truly an artist who uncovers the ties that bind all genres, leading them back to the club. With a background in hip hop, his music has always retained a raw, rough, and tumble sound that's bassline forward, intensely funky, and full of syncopated hip-shaking rhythms.
The German Tunisian artist has brought his unmatched skill behind the decks to his pivotal residencies around the world at venerated clubs like Space Miami, DC-10, Ushuaïa, and Amnesia and festivals like Electric Zoo (where he will perform this year), Time Warp, III Points, Monegros, and Awakenings.
As the long weekend winds down, sliding into the Superior Ingredients Rooftop dancefloor should be at the top of your list for Labor Day Weekend. Don't sleep on the chance to catch this genre-defining and defying artist educate the dancefloor on some proper house and techno business.
