Tamango New York

This spring, Tamango returns to New York for a special outdoor edition at H0L0 Yard in Ridgewood. Led by Italian artist Yaya, the label has become one of the most respected names in underground house and minimal. The lineup also features Santa Cruz-based Nate Katz and California duo SHIFTY.

Born in Turin with African roots, Yaya grew up immersed in rhythm, guided by his father—lead vocalist and percussionist of the M’bamina ensemble. That early exposure shaped a style that blends Afro-Latin percussion, dubby textures, and sleek tech house. A longtime affiliate of Loco Dice's Desolat, Yaya has become a trusted selector at institutions like DC10, Watergate, and Amnesia Ibiza. His productions have landed on key labels like Cuttin’ Headz, Hottrax, and of course, his own Tamango Records, where he curates some of the finest minimal-leaning grooves in circulation.

On the roster is Nate Katz, a Santa Cruz-based producer whose ear for melody and groove has landed him releases on range., Higher Ground, Space Yacht, INLV, and Rendr.

Taking over the Gray Area decks is California duo SHIFTY, made up of Ethan Ramos and Drey Despot. Raised in Huntington Beach, they pull from disco, soul, funk, and jazz, shaping a house sound that feels both classic and current. Their catalog includes releases on House Hats and North of Neptune, with backing from artists like Jamie Jones, MEDUZA, and Marco Carola. With appearances in clubs across the circuit, SHIFTY continue to build momentum with each set.

Tamango has featured releases from genre staples like Cuartero, Rich NxT, Alexis Cabrera, and Manda Moor—further cementing its place among top-tier underground house labels.
