Overview

Bob Moses is an electronic duo consisting of Vancouver-bred Tom Howie and Jimmy Valance, named after New York urban planner Robert Moses. Though the two know each other from grade school in Canada, the collaboration came to life in Brooklyn, New York, where they both moved as adults. Forming in 2012, Bob Moses has been around for a whole decade, building a solid reputation and signature sound since.

With backgrounds in punk, rock, and minimalist electronic, the two combined their styles to create a house/pop hybrid sound that’s guitar-heavy, moody, and lyrically deep. This sound is appealing to both clubgoers and rock fans, and translates to praiseworthy live performances. They have performed at nearly every major festival globally, including Glastonbury, Coachella, and Lollapalooza.

Since 2012, Bob Moses has released many notable tracks and projects. Their debut came in October 2012 with the EP, Hands to Hold, released on the Brooklyn-basedScissor & Thread imprint. Soon after releasing their following EP release, Far from the Tree, the duo signed to Domino Records in 2014.

In 2015, they released their debut album, Days Gone By, which contained the charting single “Tearing Me Up.” This track hit the top 15 on US Alternative radio, #16 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart, was nominated for two Grammys, and landed them a performance on The Ellen Show. This track has been supported by some of the largest names in electronic music and remixed by the likes of A-Trak, RAC, Joris Voorn, and Tale of US.

Their 2018 album, Battle Lines, showcased the duo’s expanded and inventive palette, awarding them tremendous praise. This project was named one of Billboard’s “Best Electronic Albums of 2018.” Their latest full-length release is the 2022 album The Silence in Between via Domino Records.

Bob Moses has earned features across many of the largest outlets. They’ve performed an Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1, a live performance from Maida Vale Studios, a feature on Morning Becomes Eclectic on KCRW, a live session for KEXP, a feature on ABC’s The Catch tv show, and much more.

Between their dozens of releases and live performances, the duo has become one of the most popular dance duos over the past decade. Bob Moses has been featured on Resident Advisor’s Best Live Act list in both 2014 and 2015 as well as being nominated for Live Act of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards in 2017.

The Brooklyn-bred duo keeps a busy touring schedule, with performances lined up around the world. This year, Bob Moses will be hitting events such as The Lagoon in Switzerland, Brunch in the Park #8 in Barcelona, III Points in Miami, Goldrush: Neon Dreams in Arizona, All Day I Dream of Ibiza Allure, and much more.
