Overview

Characterized as a leader of global, underground house and techno, Joris Voorn exists at the heart of Dutch electronic music and is the most famed and notable artist from Holland.

Voorn is a manifestation of the superlative DJ, both focused on a contemporary and novel outlook and highly technologically knowledgeable. While being deeply rooted in the underground techno scene, Voorn also has an acute sense for modern art, including photography and architecture. His upbringing as the child of a composer and a music teacher can perfectly explain his love for all these different forms of art, and his career showcases the results of this adoration. In 2002, Voorn received international esteem for his debut EP, Muted Trax, which was swiftly followed by the release of his renowned Lost Memories EP in 2003. Its 2004 succession, Lost Memories Part 2, included “Incident,” the song that infiltrated many sets as a substantial feature in the electronic music world. Subsequently, Voorn has continued his work in releasing three outstanding albums, Future History (2004), From A Deep Place (2007) and Nobody Knows (2014). This most recent album received great recognition and was voted electronic album of the year by Billboard Magazine. He has accompanied these albums with providing compilations to Belgium’s Fuse, Australia’s Balance series and the London’s underground scene.

Green, the first of Voorn’s labels, was founded in 2005. Rejected is his second label founded in 2006. He runs both with expert collaborator Edwin Oosterwal. Green has supplied a stage for two of Voorn’s albums, in addition to two of his most popular hits “Ringo” and “Looks Fake Obviously”. Rejected has provided a platform for more textbook house tracks, including his contributions in the Dusty House series. This label also became the place to submit tracks created by Voorn’s fellow producers such as Deetron and Steve Rachmad. These two labels then inspired the idea for Voorn’s radio show and event series called Spectrum, which allowed him to analyze the extent of his musical tastes and share everything with a larger audience.
