Honey Dijon's Etsy Collection is a Celebration of Queer Culture

Honey Dijon is deservedly one of the most celebrated DJs and producers in house music. She currently resides in Berlin, but her presence is global, dazzling all the dancefloors with her sound, while maintaining them as hubs for equality and inclusivity.

Honey’s roots come from Chicago, where house music came to be, and the influence is not lost on her one bit. Hearing soul and R&B records from a young age, the funk and rhythm grabbed a hold of her early and never let go. She became a regular at establishment record shops like Gramaphone in Chicago, indulging her taste and developing her sound, but also connecting with the house community.

It was during this time Honey met two fellow artists who later became major inspirations. One was the Chicago legend Derrick Carter who welcomed her into the Chicago underground and expanded her style. Next she met Danny Tenaglia after relocating to New York and seeing him play the legendary Twilo.

Soon this heavy New York influence combined with her Chicago roots smashed together in white-hot fashion and led to Honey’s now infamous sound that she has shared at dance music destinations in every part of the world. From Panorama Bar in Berlin, Sub Club in Glasgow, The Block in Tel Aviv, Output in NYC, Space in Ibiza and Smart Bar in Chicago.

That same sound follows her from the decks to the studio as she imbues the raw combination of influences into her productions. Carl Craig’s Planet E, Glitterbox Recordings, and the legendary Motown have all come to share her originals and remixes among many others.

As a transgender DJ, Honey is also on the forefront of promoting equality in the scene, the same equality she found in the early days of Chicago. She has spoken on platforms like Red Bull Music’ Fireside Chat and Kindness Radio show and been featured in a panel discussion at MoMa's PS1 alongside Genesis P Porridge of Throbbing Gristle and DJ Sprinkles, discussing Gender and Electronic Music.
