Event Recommendation
It’s an unsettling feeling getting so close to the Afterlife closing on September 22, but the week’s line-up cushions the blow and there’s some time left before we need to bid that levitating iconic insignia goodbye. Welcome to the Afterlife. For the September 15 edition, Tale of Us will be joined by Innellea and Agents Of Time in the Theater Room and ANNA, Amelie Lens, and Vaal in the more intimate Club Room. Theater Room As always, Tale of Us close the night in the Theater Room with an extended set of highly-emotive tech-house and yet another melodic journey. Disco meets melodic techno and gentle vocals in Innellea’s melancholic soundscapes. “A neologism; created in reference to musical reinvention.” In 2020, the Munich-based artist made his debut on Solumun’s Diynamic label under the “Picture” series. He has performed at Printworks, Hï Ibiza, amongst others. Agents Of Time is a duo composed of the Italian Andrea Di Ceglie and Luigi Tutolo. Their evocative 2014 EP on the Correspondant label, Polina, stood out as a bold statement of their ambient vision. Recently, they’ve performed at Circoloco at DC-10, CamelPhat’s residency at Ushuaïa, and the Galactica Festival in Gallipoli, Italy. Club Room The Barcelona-based, Brazilian artist ANNA has been DJing since she was 14 years old, starting at her father’s nightclub in Sao Paulo. Since then, she has performed at the likes of Movement Detroit, Awakenings, Tomorrowland Festival, DC10, Rex Club Paris, and more. 2022 has been busy for the artist: she released her EP Journey to the Underworld on Afterlife’s imprint in January and is also part of the label’s recent 39-track Unity Pt. 3 with the track “Cosmovision” (ft. Ravid). For the uninitiated, the Belgian producer Amelie Lens debuted her first EP, Let It Go, in 2016 and quickly rose to become one of the biggest names in the bass-heavy minimal techno scene, later launching her own imprint Lenske. Her residency at Labyrinth Club in Hasselt, Belgium, helped propel her career, and the artist has performed around the world with packed summers at festivals including B My Lake, DGTL Barcelona, Tomorrowland, The Ark Cruise, and Dour Festival. A friend of VAAL’s handed a demo of hers to Tale of Us, and from that point on, her career set off. Her first gig was a Life and Death party at Sonar Barcelona, and in 2016, she was signed to the Afterlife label who said that the artist was “unperturbed by the strict rules that define and guard electronic music." Her three-track 2016 EP Wander To Hell was released that same year, including remixes by Locked Groove and Baikal.
