The influence of Tale of Us' Afterlife imprint is being felt in every corner of the global dance music community. And at the top of the current roster of groundbreaking artists is Dutch producer and DJ, Colyn. On Saturday, February 25, we're excited to welcome the melodic techno impresario to The Roof at Superior Ingredients in Brooklyn for his New York Headline Debut. He's locked down for a marathon four-and-a-half hours!
Colyn exploded onto the scene in 2019 when Tale Of Us featured his track "Amor" in several of their live sets. After signing the track to their genre-defining Afterlife imprint, heavy support from the brand's iconic band of tastemaking artists like Mind Against, Fideles, Mathame, and Jooris Voorn followed. "Amor" brilliantly captured his gorgeously textured and infectiously grooving signature sound and was the perfect choice for a feature as one of the songs in Tomorrowland's Official Aftermovie in 2019. And as Colyn became the newest member of the Afterlife family, the rest of the industry took note landing him placements on other noteworthy labels like Rose Avenue and Armada.
Colyn is the consummate sonic storyteller, and his commitment to translating powerful emotions into transcendent dancefloor heat are resolute. Despite his youth—he's just 25—after nearly a decade of production experience, he creates with a depth of passion and understanding that's well beyond his years. It's something that's sparked the interest of industry figureheads like Armin van Burren and Rüfüs Du Sol, both of whom he's penned remixes for.
Music that tugs on the heartstrings, inspires movement, and sparks nostalgia begs to be experienced in unique environments. And the highly-evolved rooftop space at Superior Ingredients is the perfect place to immerse yourself in auditory bliss. Located at Wythe Ave and N12th Street, the venue is the former home of legendary New York nightspot Output. In its current completely redesigned and reimagined iteration, Superior Ingredients establishes its own pedigree as a premiere underground nightlife spot. And with breathtaking views of the Manhattan Skyline, the climate-controlled glass-enclosed dancefloor makes it possible to experience the joy of a day party year-round.
Colyn’s headline debut in New York is yet another step in Gray Area’s mission to expose the wider dance community to the exciting and innovative artists changing the face of house and techno.
